Being a self-hating Jew (and, much as I dislike that term, I won't quibble in Goldstone's case), almost by definition, involves a fair amount of cognitive dissonance. Self-hate and amour-propre are ill-wed companions.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15752938979399977997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097749014220347853.post-44473451777902777642009-10-17T12:05:00.051-04:002009-10-17T12:05:00.051-04:00Garnel: I assume you're as unbiased and fair-m...Garnel: I assume you're as unbiased and fair-minded when you discuss Israel as you are when you discuss religion. You've hit the nail on the head when you mention how these Jews feel like they're being even-handed and moral. See also: Haaretz.

I think further encouraging this trend is the influence of the media. According to media, which academia has embraced unquestioningly, being a Liberal means being Moral. Being conservative, or Republican, is siding with the devil. You're a bad, bad person. It doesn't help that Republicans generally care more about big business than about the poor or the disadvantaged. (Jon Stewart has a funny segment on the Republicans voting against Senator Franken's anti-rape bill, which would hurt companies like Halliburton, but tirade against ACORN)

This is kinda what you had to say in the previous post, only without the abortion and birth control part. :-)

Academia and the media has decided that Israel is the bad guy. The little guy, Palestine, are just full of salt o' the earth women and their doe-eyed children. Israel obviously hates children!

World opinion has always, always been against Israel. And the Jews. I don't believe it will ever change, and it's there because God has decided to remind us continually that we only exist because of Him. We're still having the argument we've had more than sixty years ago - does Israel have the right to exist? Most believe that it does not. Even Israeli Arabs, who enjoy free and excellent medical care, tolerance, welfare, and other subsidies - close to 50% have stated that they do not want Jews to live in Israel. And sadly, many Jews agree. Check out some of the unfortunate sayings from leaders like Ben Gurion.Devorahnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097749014220347853.post-52022018014533450322009-10-16T17:04:35.531-04:002009-10-16T17:04:35.531-04:00I would venture a guess. That's the irony of self-hating Jews. They're actually quite in love with themselves.Mighty Garnel Ironhearthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09571194550300367249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097749014220347853.post-46167991979882465332009-10-16T14:54:36.172-04:002009-10-16T14:54:36.172-04:00No argument from this quarter. I wouldn't venture a guess as to whether Goldstone thinks he's a decent man or not, but the evidence is against him on this.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15752938979399977997noreply@blogger.com
